On the 15th of December, 2007, a project entitled “Walk the Star Street” was inaugurated in a huge ceremony that was attended by the Director of US foreign Assistance and USAID administrator Ms. Hanrietta Fore. The project was funded by USAID – OTI.
There was a time when the historic Star Street was a commercial centre throbbing with activities; today the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other partners among the civil society, are putting a great deal of efforts in revitalizing the street and restoring its multi-functionality of past years.

 This project aims at:

  • Reviving businesses in Bethlehem's old city.
  • Empowering the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as a constituency for peace, as an advocate to create positive change in the private sector.
  • Demonstrating the success of a constituency's efforts for government support through the creation of private-public partnerships to resolve high level issues in Palestinian society.
This project will be an introduction towards achieving sustainable economic development in the governorate of Bethlehem.
