BCCI and VIS launched a research on Handicraft Industries in Bethlehem

BCCI and VIS launched a research on handicraft industries in Bethlehem which came as an update for the research done by the BCCI in 2008.
At the beginning, Dr. Samir Hazboun welcomed the attendance and thanked the efforts of VIS, and he added that BCCI is a partner in this project ,and it seeks to support it, especially that BCCI and its management value VIS efforts and its voluntary work that serve artisans sector in the district through Salesian artisan center and international nativity museum, besides the efforts that include networking to create jobs for Salesian graduates ,and promote their works through e-marketing and direct one.
Mr Bilichia appraised the cooperation relations with BCCI, and its effective role in supporting economic environment. He asserted on the importance of this research to develop handicraft sector, and the projects that can be designated to help this sector in accordance to research requirements. He added also that this launch of this study is within a project led by the VIS and funded by “Toronto district “in Italy and in cooperation with the BCCI in order to develop the handicraft sector, this project included several activities such as formulating a forum represents all handicraft sector in Bethlehem to empower product promotion and to market them in Europe, issuing a catalogue for all handicrafts as a first step in this process, and to shed light on handicrafts and introduce them to Europe.
In addition to that, there will be an organization for open days for youths to visit handicrafts workshops, in order to encourage them to be more acquainted by the handicrafts such as Salesian art center, Nativity international museum, and other educational about the handicrafts products, and distributing educational materials to introduce handicrafts products they participated in Toronto exhibition and there will be other exhibitions in several locations in Italy.
