BCCI is hosting a meeting about the provisions of Palestinian labor law

BCCI have hosted a meeting in regard to the provisions of Palestinian labor law, which was organized by the FPCCIA. At the beginning of the meeting Dr. Samir Hazboun-the chairman of board members welcomed the participants who were the chairmen of board of members of Hebron Governorate chambers ,the members of BCCI, as well as the FPCCIA consultants. He also pointed to the challenges and obstacles that face businessmen, and all issues under organization in the best way possible, he also touched on the rules of administrative work procedures that followed in BCCI that accommodate with the Palestinian labor law ,after the certification of the Ministry of labor.
Mr. Ahmad Farra –the economic consultant in FPCCIA clarified that the results of field visits that targeted the public members of Chambers of commerce, it manifests also that the most important requirements needed to be pursued is Labor law ,which led to arrange four meetings on the national level ; allocated in all governorates (south ,north ,and the middle); to work on in order to get out with a position paper that provides solutions suggested by the private sector, then it will be discussed in the social dialogue committee with the Ministry of labor, labor unions, and the private sector. Mr. Farra pointed to the endeavor of the FPCCIA to know the challenges of the private sector, and standing on the obstacles it faces.
From his sides, Mr. Naim Salameh –the legal consultant of the FPCCIA displayed a detailed presentation about the provisions of Palestinian labor Law, tackled in which several subjects such as contracts ,the validity of labor law ,the labor complain post-free, labor policies committee, limited duration contract ,and non-limited one. It also undertook the rights and duties for laborers, workplace, probation period, work performance, limitations, and cases in which the contract can be terminated ,quitting work cases ,in addition to the additional working hours, annual leaves , labor insurance ,and severance pay.
Participants have raised questions related to the affirmation of verbal contract, compensations that exceed the capital of the company, additional working hours with a retroactive effect, and the importance to follow up on the national level to deal with this phenomenon.
It’s worth mentioning that the labor law has come into sight as apriority for all the chambers of commerce to be discussed, demanding to be adjusted to accommodate with all sides, as this law was declared in 2000 after advent of PA. The boom that occurred and negotiation, and because of the stability of political, economic, and security situation, the Palestinian labor was declared, on account of the difference of the current status, and the presence of the systematic council for the private sector with a membership of FPCCIA, and other institutions that led to revise the mentioned material to accommodate all.
