BCCI celebrates the graduation of twenty skilled young people as part of the“More Job Opportunities for Palestinian Youth Programme”

On Thursday 6th July 2017 –Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a graduation ceremony for twenty young people from the Governorate of Bethlehem who have officially completed a three-month training course specializing in “vehicles body parts and paint” at Halhul Vocational Multipurpose Training Center as part of the “More Job Opportunities for Palestinian Youth Programme” which is implemented by the GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This project aims at empowering unemployed marginalized youth through building their capacities and skills and enhancing their employability based on the market needs. For that, the Association of Garage owners has partnered in this project, to help provide job opportunities to the skilled young graduates.


During the ceremony, the speakers emphasized the importance of private and public sector cooperation. Dr. Samir Hazboun – chairperson of Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce & Industry emphasized the importance of vocational training in creating diversified job opportunities in order to reduce unemployment and enhance the economic process in the Palestinian market, while Mrs. Kirsten Freimann - Head of GIZ “More Job Opportunities Programme”- highlighted the importance of partnering with TVET providers in order to create more demand-driven job opportunities for Palestinian youth.


On the other hand, Mr. Imad Salem – representing Halhul Vocational Multipurpose Training Center , and Mr. Wasfi Shahin – head of the Association of Garage Owners - highlighted the role of Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry in implementing such an important project, and emphasized the importance of working along with the chamber to create skilled labor with better opportunities.
