Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosts a workshop to develop the handicraft and embroidery sector

Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with CARE International in Palestine and the Ministry of National Economy, held a workshop on strategic directions for developing the handicraft and embroidery sector, to discuss the development of this sector and to draft a position paper to improve the enabling entrepreneurship ecosystem, this project OBADER is implanted by Care International and other local partners.
Mr. Jamal Handal started his speech by welcoming all guests and partners, pointing to the permanent pursuit of the Chamber of Commerce and industry in providing more distinguished services and activities for its members, especially women. He referred to the role that Business Women Center plays in enhancing women economic empowerment and increasing the prosperity of low-income women. Mr. Bassem Al-Azzouni, General Director of the National Economy Directorate in Bethlehem Governorate, gave a welcoming speech in which he stressed that the Chambers of Commerce and Industries are the compass of the national economy, and he stressed on the need to build an effective economy and support all sectors, especially women.
Mr. Dia’ Salama, Project Manager of OBADER and Dr. Suhail Sultan, Project Advisor presented a summary of the project objectives and the agenda of the workshop and the most expected results. Ms. Buthaina Mezid, Gender Coordinator at CARE, presented a presentation to analyze the handicrafts and embroidery sector specially in the challenges of the current situation. finally, Engineer Rasha Hawash, business development coordinator at Care International, presented a presentation of the support services sector using IT and proposed strategic interventions. The workshop concluded with a presentation of the results of the discussions.
This workshop is part of the "OBADER" Women and Youth Entrepreneurs project, which aims to promote economic empowerment and prosperity for women and young people with low and middle incomes in the south and central of West Bank and Gaza Strip.
